p-car weather

with apologies to the rest of the country. On the way to get take-out sushi tonight (soooo LA), had to open the sunroof. The bottom-of-the-hour news announcer indicated why:

"It's 8:31pm, and right now in downtown it's 71 degrees."

I should mention that Wednesday we had an earthquake that actually tripped our auto gas shutoff valve. I was wondering why the pilot on the water heater was out...

I'm sitting here at 5:30am, reading the PPBBS....and the temp today is UP to 4 degrees. I guess I really do need a life.

I finally have a weekend off to tinker on the car...and it's freakin covered with ice! So here I sit at the computer where it's warm.

Thermometer is right around 15 degrees here in Northern Virginia.

It's been so cold here this winter that I can't remember what 71 degrees felt like. Can you send some of that our way Nostatic ?

I would, but mother nature doesn't seem to be cooperating. This has been a weird January. We normally get one good Santa Ana with temps in the 80s during January...good for a couple of days. This month though it has been in the 70's or 80's almost every day. Right after the first of the year, my son and I went to the beach 3 out of 4 days one week...in shorts and a t-shirt (well, and a wetsuit for me). Looks like tomorrow and Sunday will be the same plan.

But really...we're due for a nice big earthquake any day now.

I lived in LA-LA land for many years, Todd. You forgot to mention that while the weather is nice and warm, the real excitement comes when you finally get to drive in 2nd gear in good 'ol So. Calif. traffic.

Well, it officially reached 45.8ºC today. That's 115ºF!!!!! Hell, the oil in the 3.2 is usually cooler than that!

That's the hottest day recorded in Melbourne for nearly 70 years. Good Lord, I live in an uncivilized, beastly climate. I plan to move to Antarctica, where I can drive the 911s (on snow tires) and dodge Penguins.

Hate it for you Todd. It's a lingering snow covered 21 degrees this morning and 9 degrees yesterday morning here in the "warm" South. We should be in the 50s.

While it is cold and our Drive got canceled yet again due to ice on the roads I am comforted by the fact that we can get out of second gear while in traffic and we don't have the smog nazi's trying to ban our cars.

CA is nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

NoStatic enjoy your weather for us and go carve up some roads some place for me.

Unusually gorgeous weather here this month, global warming?? Whatever, I'll take it. And Osidak, Ilan, etc.: If it makes you feel better to think we have to drive slow here, go ahead, but nothing could be further from the truth. People drive faster here than any city I've been in, and I've been in most.

Oh yeah, we also have the most canyons and beautiful twisty roads, but that would be rubbing it in I guess.

Did I mention the most, (and best), tracks+ the weather to use them? OK, I'll stop.

We're having a warm streak today in N NJ...sun's out, almost 30 degrees with a possibility of 38 tomorow! Took the cover off the "T", found the battery charger, just in case, but she started right up. Took her around the block a couple of times. Felt great. Now...about to take the bike out for a nice ride. Being a native Californian, I've learned you got to take advantage of sun whenever you can out here.
Haven't spoken to any of my family in So Cal...keep bustin' my chops about the great weather. YEh, YEh, I know!
Have a good weekend!

Yeah I went out for sushi too (is there any better food?), so it's not just LA.
But it was 1 degree w/ a wind chill of about -10.

So, do any of you need a good employee where it's warm?

Warm (50F) and dry here but can't drive P-car as seats are out in California getting recovered. Skiing sucks; if we don't get some snow soon it's going to be hot and smoky this summer.

Yeah!! Sitting here in San Diego, it's shorts and tee shirt weather. All those wathcing the Super Bowl will see some great weather tomorrow. I guess that's why we pay the big bucks to live here. My targa top is permanently stored in the spare bedroom.

I got sunburnt today......

I also had to chose between tan shorts and black shorts....or to decide whether they clashed with my brown leather flip flops. The Hawaiin shirt clashes with everything, so I decided to to just take the boat out and wear a bathing suit.....woe is me....
