You said you want low noise and don't drive a lot of miles so that also means you aren't likely planning cold or wet driving. The Conti tires (not the all season version) fit that bill perfectly. You want some tread vs. the super blocky track style tire normally to fit your list. I have the Conti's being suggested on my GTI and they are very decent. They don't make noise when cornering (even when mildly aggressive) which I like. Have been great in the wet also. Can also get them Cheap with lots of rebate action at Tire Rack.

Ace -- One of the nice things about the michelin is that its all season tread compound will be more compliant in colder weather (My Conti DW tires get a bit hard when it's cold) -- if you foresee taking your 911 on any trips that could involve cold weather, that might be a benefit? regardless, don't think you can beat either the michelin AS3+ or conti extreme contact sport given your priorities

I've only had the new Continental ExtremeContact Sports on my car for a few weeks now but like them a lot. They don't feel squishy like some of the other Continental tires in the past, although those were all-seasons.

I put on a set of the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ on my '80SC. I love them, probably the
best tires I've had on this car in the last 35yrs! By the way, bought them at Costco with their $70 off for a set of four promotion. Saved close to $200 versus TireRack with their shipping charges and then having to find a good installer. The Costco install could not have been more professional. I watched like a hawk and they did it all correctly, used torque wrench, jacked up with MY jackpads, new valve stems and the balance was perfect. They also fill with nitrogen (with free refill anytime) and give free road hazard warranty and free lifetime balance. I could not be happier. Just my $.02 Grant

I decided to go with the ExremeContact Sport. Seem like it meets all my criteria.
ExtremeContact Sport - 195/50ZR16 84W | Continental Continental even has a flat tire assistance program if you register on their site within 45 days of purchase. They'll come out and change your tire for you! Thanks everyone for you hep and suggestions. I really appreciate it!!

I tried the Michelin A/S 3 and did not like them. The Exaltos are better, also more comfortable.

I would go with the Bridgestone RE-11. They have tremendous grip, which is what you want on a 911. They are quiet and seem to last a long time. No need for a all weather tire in so Cal with much less grip on our 300 sunny days a year.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+. Best tire I had on my SC, besides the Bridgestone S02s. reason for running the S02s now and not the AS3s is the fronts are slightly narrower than other 205s, which cured my rubbing issues
As opposed to adias post #32 I did not like the Michelin Exaltos, too soft and mushy for my taste and took them off after 3000 miles

all is relative. And tires is also a matter of taste. I found the Exaltos (N marked btw) to be softer (sidewalls) than the S02N3s and also the AS3s. The latter are also noisier and less compliant

I put Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ on my 87 a couple of months ago and didn't believe the transformation. It drives like a new car. They would be a little squishy for the track, but are really smooth, quiet and sticky on the twisties.
