Hartmut at NHS was great. The new owner, I met him in person at a show, nice guy, had a long convo with him but he is letting the customer service go to total ****. Re-adjustment time has past and there are operational problems with these guys. They are obviously are understaffed.

I have been charged multiple times for the same order so I have to call to get these charges removed, there is no communication and you can never go ahold of the person who can take care of the entire order. What a shame, the work was great (always) but now its not worth dealing them because you can't get anything done in a reasonable time and they won't tell you when it will be done.

And their you go. Customer service has always been the corner stone for all successful businesses. It also says something about the new owners not being involved in their new business. May just be an investment. You have been more than fair. Time to move on.

I can't opine on NH as I've never used them, but it does seem as if things have changed since the founding owner divested the business.

I've used Palo Alto numerous times over the years. Here is the most recent set they refurbished (and cleaned up the design of the gauge faces) for me. They are FLAWLESS...

My odometer died 4ish years ago and NHS turned it around in roughly a week. It's disturbing to hear others having issues, especially since many of our cars have appreciated in that time and the accuracy of our odometers is so integral in maintaining that value.

I spoke with the owner about 2 months ago about a problem that had nothing to do with them. He explained they had about 150 full sets of Porsche gauges waiting for restoration. As everyone knows, the big boom started around 2012. Any 911 with a Porsche crest was getting restored so it could be sold for a quick buck. that is over now and they are still digging out. They can't get enough techs. You can't put a add on Craig's list looking for help and expect qualified calls. I was in the auto service business for 45 years and know the drill.
As far as customer service, that is key, but when you are drowning in work, it is sometimes hard to be 100% with everyone.

Sent mine in for service 2 weeks ago. Even with the Holidays they turned it around in about a week. Not full restoration though. Just recalibration and clean up. $165.00 job

Happy customer here. Speedo went in for odo and calibration. Got it back in maybe 2 weeks, NY to Cal and back.

yes they made these faces. i gave them all guages with poorly applied old red bubbling appliqués. the pics are what I got back. The yellow is painted on. the black ones were all redone from scratch as well and all faces repainted.

Sent them an ammeter and oil pressure gauge from a '58 A model a few weeks ago. Person on the phone was pleasant and polite. The order was to check and clean both. I spoke with a tech, who was knowledgeable and polite. He explained what had to be done, and I had both gauges back in one week.

I sent my 914-6 gauges to Palo Alto Speedo in Palo Alto, CA. I dealt with Hartmut. He was terrific and knew exactly what I was looking for. The gauges were there for a bit but I told them no rush as my car was fully disassembled. Here is the tachometer with an oil pressure built into it.

I had my tach refurbed by nhws a couple of years ago. Along with a refresh I wanted the redline at 12 o'clock but otherwise factory look. It looks like used a gauge face they may have had laying around the shop on my tach!

It looks like some of the numbers are a slightly different font, #2, and #6,#7 and #8 are almost lined up horizontally. The needle was faded and it's still that way; they didn't even touch it! It's not horrible but wtf. The more I look at it the more I hate it. I have seen pics of other Pelican member's gauges that are done perfectly. Not mine.

Two of mine that came back from NH came apart. Tach retaining screws loose as well as pointer and clock was missing two screws, after a 3000 odd dollar custom job. Too expensive for me to ship back to the states but unfortunate nonetheless. Will look elsewhere next time.
