Cab back to Targa! Project "BugBug" goes back to where he once belonged

So, I did start another thread previously, looking to see what cab parts could be reused on this project, but I figured an actual build thread is in order.. I'm taking a Cab'd Targa and turning it back into a targa.

So, I was able to borrow a nice top to align some stuff!

I don't have any of my seals yet, so I don't know if the rear window interface is good or not. It is just sitting on the body right now. How much wiggle room will I have? Any?
Also this isn't even tacked up, just sitting loose. looks square to the bar though!

In the last pic you can see the door window glass against the bar. Also pretty square, but again no seals or trim.

Question: As mentioned I have no seals installed (Not entirely true, I have my windshield to top seal), how critical is the bar to top seal for alignment? I have the top fully clicked in to the windshield, and the body/bar footprint matches. seems to be nice and tight on the windshield and square to the bar.. Man! I wish I had a stripped Targa to take some shots off of! Ah well, onward through the fog!

Wow...this is some project! Not sure I can help you but I own a targa and if I can provide any photos or measurements that would be helpful, I'm happy to oblige.

Good luck, brother.

Dpmulvan! I would love a few pics!
Top of tub to leading top edge of bar for starters.. And if the glass is out then back of center of bar to back center of tub.. That would be really cool.
I wish I had a local tub to eyeball, would make this easier for sure :P
Anyone see anything out of whack so far? Top to door glass is good, door glass seems square with the bar.. Anything I dont see?
Thanks guys!

I also have a completely bare '74 Targa shell & would be happy to help with pics & dimensions. If you are specific with your request, I'll take pics & measurements for you of where the Targa bar is located on the tub I have...

Just let me know.

Tom

Tom, that would be great! Again,

Top of tub to leading top edge of bar for starters.. And if the glass is out then back of center of bar to back center of tub. Also center of winshield targa top locating pin to front edge of bar.

I kinda like your front valence, do you know what brand/model/manufacturer that is?

Cheers.

Also... this may help... but beware, it might be SWB dimensions & I'm not sure if they are the same forward of the torsion tube as LWB tubs...

I'm pretty sure I got it from the Restoration Designs site - they have a few of the factory workshop manual dimensioned drawings available for download.

Restoration Design Inc. | Videos & Media

I've got a bunch of them printed out on 24"x36" paper on my shop wall for reference... super handy!

Again, it may be for a SWB tub, which may or may not be the same as a LWB tub! I can verify a few dimensions on the '74 I have over the weekend...

So, another measurement if possible that I thought of.. The bar has that little lip that sticks out 90 degrees near the tub,... Measurement from tub to lip. Itll be small, but handy Thanks in advance!

This pic is the cab crap apologizing to the Targa bar. Cut it all out this evening.
At least its gone.

The before .....

The after! Shes a hottub now!!!

Next step involves repairing the damage done by the cab mounts, and welding the bar back in.

I almost have a Targa! Yes!!!!
