Fuel line compression fitting leak

A buddy needed to replace some intake components on his '91 964. As a result, some fuel line unions had to be undone.

Upon reassembly, the fitting in a line between the fuel rail and the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) get damp with a periodic drip as soon as the EFI is pressurized.

The union is at the FPR. Both surfaces are free from any visual defects. It is damp regardless if it is mild-tight or super-tight.

It is a compression fitting. There isn't much to service here. What is a method to resolve? Start replacing parts? Any other solution?

In an effort to not disturb the two (of three) dry fittings on the FPR, trying to replace the hose first seems logical.

When these types of unions fail, what side is typically the side of the problem? The line (male side) or the female side (FPR in this case)? Both?

Thank you.

Step one I would unscrew it completely and screw it back on making sure it goes on straight. Sometimes they just need a reseating.

The 964 board might give you better advice.

Just looking for guidance and general experience resolving compression fitting faults. They just happen to be on a 964.

I use compression fittings all the time, but they are Metric, not a close USA aftermarket fitment that some shops offer.

Perhaps I can help. Post some photos or email me. NO pm's.
