1985 911 No Crank No Start :(

Clicks and thats it. battery is strong...now im thinking I didt need to change the previous starter. Could it be ignition switch?

Should have called AAA. They would have had it running in no time flat.

Has been "fixed" by the operator placing the Beetle in gear, then gently rocking the car which in turn frees up the solenoid... I wonder if your mechanic was able to look at the solenoid gear and ring gear to rule out any damage.

This saved me today. I was stranded after a car show. While waiting for a tow truck I put my 911 in first gear and slightly rocked it back and forth. She started right up after. Thank you Jlex!

What’s the permanent fix for this? New starter motor?
