Help needed in choosing tire sizes

Hey all, I have a 1981 911sc which is lowered to Euro height. I am looking to put 7x16 front and 9x16 rear wheels on it.
After reading a few threads I'm not clear on what size tires I need to put on them. They all state you can put 245x45x16 on 8 inch and on 9 inch. Wouldn't the 245x45x16 look too small on that size rim?
Could please someone clarify. Cheers

For what it's worth, my 77 Carrera 3.0, which is a SC body, has 16" 50 series, which was an option. I think they look old fashion & tall. I have 1 member that put 17" but I don't know what series. I think his looks great!

225/50 x16 are spec'd for a 6" to 8" wheel, you will get the best performance by using an 8"
245/45 x16 are spec'd for a 7.5" to 9" wheel, you will get the best performance by using a 9"

thew 245/45 is ~.2" shorter than 225/50, if the optics bother you drop the car another .2"

The primary benefits of the 245/45 over the 225/50 is a little wider tread on a little more stable carcass w/ a little better net gearing

The 245/45*16 is also getting harder to come by. Not many to choose from. I went with 7" and 8" rims, with 205/55*16 and 225/50*16 tires.
Havenīt regretted it once. Sidewalls are near identical and they fill the wheel wells nicely.

PS! Mine is a bastard 77 911S with SC flairs and 964 bumpers, but you get the idea.

A Tirerack search for stock 930 / M491 sizes (including 245/45-16) comes up with three options. Backordered P Zero Rosso and two R-comp options (Trofeo R and R888R). Sub-optimal / not awesome for a lot of us. :(
