993 feels like the logical choice after a G. So… how long until you’re chopping this one up for a widebody?

Turns out that was my home.

I was going to start a new thread. Tony, Gabe, Nathan, and Julian all advised I keep this one going. #FSS

I have a growing list of ideas and a growing folder of inspirational pics in my phone. So don't go anywhere. My search for my (Low Budget) Dream Car continues.
This update - is amazing!!!

And I concur. MUCH better car! Excited to see what you do with it.

Yes and No, respectively.

Please no.
I have a whole host of plans for this car...but a widebody isn't in those plans.
You can jelly a whole bunch of wheel and tire under a 993 narrow body. So we'll see if I can't strike the appropriate balance between style and capability without touching the body.

Well it took me approximately no time at all to start making changes to the 993.
My steering wheel came in and I was all excited to get it installed. I even took what was supposed to be a "before" picture.

I got it all apart and found that I was missing something.

So I did what any reasonable person would do. I just kept taking things apart.

This

Led to this

Which led to this

That's some gore without context so here's the gist of it.
I pulled the steering wheel and stalks to get the steering wheel installed. Found I was missing a horn contact.
Then, I started looking at all the wires from the integrated (K40) radar detector system. That had to go. (bumper removal)
While the bumper was off, I didn't like the looks of the headlight washers. (gotta go)
Saw the SiriusXM antenna also under the bumper cover. (now gone)
Started tracing back the XM antenna and got into the stereo wiring.
Re-routed the microphone for Bluetooth calls.
Went to put the stereo back in and thought to myself, "Man, WTF are you doing? You don't want this or the center console."
So the stereo isn't going back in...and neither is the center console tower thing at the front.
I've ordered a Bluetooth controller/receiver/preamp to control audio entertainment, a radio delete plate to blank the space....but with holes for the center console switches, the horn contact, and some more parts that I'll share as they start arriving.
.
The impetus of all these exercises is to simplify. If I add a little lightness, that's a bonus. I have a vision for the inside and while the driving season wanes into Winter, I'll be in the garage doing interior makeover things so when Spring arrives, I slap on some new tires and I'm ready to go.
.
5 weeks til coilovers.

It’s both amazing and quite lovely how quickly this escalated. I would have expected nothing less. Onward!

My G body brain gets jealous every time I see a 993 interior. Stronger tub, lots of insulation. It's just a better place to start a build for our use case. I'm going to spend all winter welding on and stuffing things into a SC chassis that came stock on your car.

Lol, same. Plus all that room for transmissions!

This looks like the beginning of one of my builds. You start taking things apart and figure "Hey why not do this now". Great job Chris. Looking forward to following along as usual.
