Yep. It will be 100mm bolt center to bolt center.

I can measure but I imagine it would be much less that 100 mm bolt center to bolt center.

That's OK, they won't be 108mm, which are the larger, more $$$, flanges used in '85/86 Carrera models.

OK, that makes sense. I will pop the cover this week and report back, possibly even today. Out of curiousity, why do I need to pull both flanges to remove the cover?
Thanks, Jason |

Because the other flange will be holding the differential into the case. You won’t be able to inspect the ring gear from the backside.

Way more info than you need but starting a couple pages in there are good pictures and explanations about this gearbox.

I was able to pull the differential today. The oil is clean and all looks well to me. Here are some pictures:

It's a major expense to replace the ring & pinion if damaged or badly worn.

Did you turn the head of the pinion shaft in order to inspect all 8 teeth? A bit of aerosol cleaner will help you inspect, with all the oil it's hard to see some of the bits!
BTW; don't set the diff assembly on those carrier bearings! Always use one of the axle flanges and set the diff on it...

I already reassembled the diff. Yes, I spun the pinion and there is no pitting or damage. I can break it down again in necessary. I have lots of experience looking at other transmission and transmission parts, just no Porsche specific parts. Point noted on the bearing surface.

Prospective buyers will want to see for themselves. It’s worth your time to pull it back out and snap clean closeups. It’s the difference between a $1500 core for sale and a $2500 one.

Nice work, Supernova. Wish all threads had an OP with SN's diligence. FWIW and off topic, my 69 AMX 390 had a T-10.

I don't think this is the "Hans Herrmann oops Furhman" assembly you are looking for. ![]() http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/529135-what-kind-engine-do-i-have.html

Thanks guys. I can’t thank you enough. When I’m asking all these questions, the least I can do is get back to you with the info you ask for. I will get some brake clean and pull the diff out again for some clearer pictures. As I said, I looked it over well but I’m sure I buyer will want to see for themselves.

It hasn’t seen the light of day for awhile. Kids have taken priority. Hopefully I can get it out of mothballs soon.

Will you accept an offer for the early Bronco? Tell me what year it is, and if it runs...
