Did an 80 Euro car still use floaters on the fronts?

Yes, they are floating on the 80, assuming they were not changed during a dealer brake job. There is a bulletin out on this so the conversion probably happened often. Originals are floating.

BTW, you can get these new. I have an old set if you insist on used but they are not in outstanding condition.

The main difference with the new ones is the hole pattern in the drilling. I think the original ones were a 4/3/4/3 hole pattern. The new versions are 4/4/4/4. If you can tolerate that (I could as my orginal ones were below the wear limit) then the new ones fit just fine on the floating system.
