Just got another scammer reply from BigBrook305 for my WTB ad. He told me to contact bkbills0424@gmail.com or 757-301-1958 for the part. Turns out he's working a lot of other forums too.

Robert Liberty (aka rliberty) is not a trustworthy seller. I paid $140 for a rear view mirror that came in with a cracked ball joint housing. For months, he promised to send me a replacement or refund me. He has done neither. I'd would thread with caution in dealing with this seller.

Kevin195 joined 7/19/22 selling a dashboard, has two pictures he got from somewhere else he's using to send to people, phone # 626.514.0944 says he's in Oregon. His asking went from $950 to $700 to $500 but no less! All coms done via text. Beware.

When I suspect something isn't right, what I've done is ask for a picture from a specific angle (the back, a screw hole). The communication always stops.

Also got one from Lavahi55 telling me to contact David at (408)764-6309. That person then started texting me from (240)452-1619 and has been asking for payment via Zelle (no buyer protection) or PayPal through their "cousin" but marking the payment as friends and family. I then found the pics he was sending me were re-used from another Pelican ad from 2018. Please ban. Can we also report these phone #'s to the authorities? Should be pretty easy to find who is tied to these #'s.

Also, same deal with DannyJewelry as well. I pushed for payment via Venmo for buyer protection and sent payment, he then gave me the runaround and wouldn't ship with a ton of excuses (work, planning a funeral, etc.) I am working with Venmo to recover my funds. Payment was made to @Babyfigueroa on Venmo. I've done some research based on the area code of the # (940)343-5177 as well as the Venmo name and have identified a LinkedIn profile for a match:

Debating what my next steps should be, possibly sending this information to local authorities in Denton TX.

The number of scammers on Pelican is ridiculous, I would be extremely wary of dealing with anyone on this site.

We mostly talk about scammers who are sellers responding to WTB posts.
I’ve also run across scammers attempting to buy something. Here’s how it goes (there are variations):

They say they want what you’re offering, and at first everything seems normal. They have all sorts of reasons they can’t use PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ApplePay and tell you they’re sending a cashier’s check and adding a shipping amount to your asking price because they’re having their shipper pick up the item.
Then you deposit the check and in 2-3 days your bank indicates that it cleared. They ask you if it cleared and when you respond that it has, they say they’re going to have the item picked up and you pay the shipper their fee (the extra amount included in the check).
The problem is that it can surprisingly takes 2 weeks for the check to REALLY clear, and when it doesn’t, your bank reverses the deposit to your account.

You would be out the item (but it’s honestly not about that) and the amount you paid their shipper.
