1975 Porsche Carrera 2.7 liter Engine For Sale

This is my first listing for sale as a member so please be patient with me. I hope this works and goes smooth.. I am a huge fan of this Forum

$5500.00 SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD 8-21-2023

This came out of a 1975 Porsche Carrera about 15 years ago. We are downsizing our shop and our home. It has been wrapped in plastic on a pallet all of these years in a heated climate controlled shop.

Please know your business and please know your engine codes. Serial number 6450954 is the designated 1975 Porsche Carrera engine as pictured. The case numbers pictured are cases from 1974-1977 but it is significant that it is a Carrera serial numbered engine 1975.

2.7 Liter magnesium cased motor, fuel injected, it was never hurt or blown up. It was removed at 70K miles. 100% stock and original. What you see is what you get. Plug wires are gone but everything else is there, rear motor mount, airbox, clutch etc. There is no grey area that the Porsche Air cooled market is doing nothing but increasing. This came out of a street car all original and never tracked.

If you are doing a small bumper car or any sort of replica build this is a great start. I would go through it and freshen it up of course but there was never any damage.

Please message me so we can connect and start the process. I am on Whidbey Island 2 hours North of Seattle. We will assist in the shipping and do what is required to work with you.

Cash only no trades. If you require a hold we would request a Venmo payment.

In an earlier post, you stated that you had put a 3 liter in your '75 Carrera after the 2.7 died. I'm guessing this engine is the 2.7 that died. What was the failure mode? Can you provide some detailed explanation of the condition?

Hello Tom, I guess I should not have used that word, so comments like woops do not help the situation from strangers. I was the 2nd owner to the car after it had been sitting for several years. Over the time I owned it the 2.7 ran great just felt as if it was becoming tired so I used a poor choice of words. At the time when the markets were strong the rebuild was a lot of money so I had an option at a 3.0 and went that route. The motor felt tired to me but was in very good running order so there was no mechanical failure to speak of. I will hope and trust this forum will keep comments above board and I will accept the misuse of a diagnoses knowing I would never sell a internally damaged part. I hope this helps.

Do you do a compression test or leak down test on the cylinders, if so what were the readings? Where are you located?

When we removed the motor, we did not do a leak down. I want to be very clear as I know how people chime in and it turns into a mess. The motor felt tired to me, this is close to 15 plus years ago. It ran fine, again slow to me as this was my first 911. There were no rattles no noises, a tired feeling engine. I am located in Washington State as the listing says. 2 hours North of Seattle WA. I would never sell an internally hurt engine or otherwise. Please let me know thoughts or any positive feedback. Thank you

'Strangers' - 'tired'. I've bought and sold more 2.7's than you probably have ever seen lad. How 'bout you don't try to high road us on this forum. I've been here for quite a while. If your engine is a dud, call it out for what it is.

Guidelines of the forum

- Be polite, and don't trash someone else's listing. It's not polite to point out that the person is selling this part when there is one cheaper on eBay. However, if there are visible errors in the listing, it is then appropriate to follow up with comments.

Goodluck with the sale Thanks Rob.

That's Jimbo's trolling style. Trashes listings all the time. He trashed me and my listing implying the part I listed was a knock off...... and he was incorrect. Not very well informed or polite.

Quite the contrary Sr. Hutch. I'm very well informed and am simply calling out inconsistencies where I see them. Why would you have a problem with that unless you have something covert in mind? I don't 'trash listings all the time' as you state. If your listing isn't bonafide, then you are the one behind the ruse. 'Nuff said chief? BTW up your post count if you want street cred.

Very well informed? You trashed me and my listing for a NOS 2.4 T Mechanical Injection pump implying it was not a legit 2.4 T pump, implying I was trying to deceive the community here. And in fact you were incorrect as the pump was a legit 2.4 T pump.

At least you let us all know you are the 2.7 guru.

And now you are trashing people who have low post counts........

I was going to respond to these ass clowns' posts but I've changed my mind. Not worth the effort. Just keep trying to foist your goods onto the Pelican community. Caveat emptor.

I can't help myself: re: robblr - here is from his Pelican bio: About robblr
