WANTED: Raised Spindle Struts
So I just missed out on a set of RSR raised spindle struts...
I still need them. If there are any more out there, let me know! The race car isn't going to the body shop until I get some!

Are you looking for raised spindle struts, or are you looking for race coilovers and raised spindles... the works.
Like kanna says, you can get someone to raise the spindles for you if that is what you are looking for. I have a set of coil overs. These are custom bodies, threaded od. Raised spindles, they take a koni 8610 custom valved insert. I am planning to go a different way with the front suspension, so these will be avaliable. I was looking to get more like $750 - $800 for them though. The $400 price range was a too super deal. Thanks Ed

Ed, do these coilovers work with torsion bars like the RSR's - or only as coilovers? I'd be interested if I don't have to run them as coilovers, and that the spindles weren't raised so much I can't run them in my 16" wheels

The ones that Tricky D is saying that he missed out on are here:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=250112 (I assume anyway). These, I again assume, use the coil over spring and not a torsion bar. You could leave off the coil over and run a torsion bar instead. Mine are very similar in appearance to these except that they use an insert instead of the strut being built right into the body like the rsr's. I would have to measure the room between the strut and the wheel. I run 17's, so there would need to be a half inch or more clearance. Thanks Ed

I have the weld in boxes from smart racing. It allows about 3 times as much negative camber than I choose to run. I have not heard of anything along these lines in the front. Heard of a few guys having problems in the back.
Catca, I tried to buy them from the buyer for twice what you sold them for. I wanted to get them to match the rears that I have already. I have been running the bilstien rsr coilovers in the back. If I had gotten yours, I would have gotten the upside down kit for the rears and ran them. Now that I did not, I am going with the Smart racing fox kit that I just picked up the rears here new, now need to buy the fronts to match. Need to sell my current fronts and rears. Thanks Ed

Jeff is correct - his setup for $425 was a killer deal, and I missed out on them. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to stay away from the computer.
I have Boge shocks now, and I just don't feel it's worth the effort to raise the spindles on those. And since I'm leaning toward coilovers, it just doesn't make sense to do it anyway. I happened upon a left RSR housing a while back, and still have it. Now I need a right housing. I already have the struts. And I still need to get the spring hardware, but I can do that after I know I have the strut housings.

Well, if Ed provides positive feedback on the FOX stuff he is getting, I am crazt enough to get them and then I would have a full set of NEW RSR fronts(raised 29mm) and a rear set available too, just no where near the deal this last set was.....
Cheers

Well, I can say I've heard nothing but good things about the Fox setup. And I'm not saying it just to get a crack at your RSR setup - just saying what I understand to be true.
If I had more seat time, I'd probably go with a Fox setup myself. I'm just not there yet... If you do decide to unload your RSR setup, Jeff, would you do me a favor and PM or e-mail me BEFORE you post it on this board? ![]()

Yes sir, will do. I have talked with SRP about the FOX stuff before, but I want to hear from someone who uses it who does not sell it, if you know what I mean.... If I can help you out with any questions or the like, don't hesitate to click on the envelope by my avatar and email me.
Cheers

I understand exactly what you mean.
And thanks for the offer - right now I can use all the help I can get (along with all the Scotch I can get...)

You guys need to talk to Gary Boss (PCA GT-4)
Had major problems with keeping alignment settings at Road Atlanta. Seems to be some flex issues in the small strut shafts. Another sales pitch...sorry. Look at the Ohlins that are available...50mm shafts, remote res. triple adjustable, adjustable spindle. |
