Ripped off......update.

Candelaria (Candy),now banned, aka Antonio, banned, aka Sonny, banned. This guy shows up under a different name every few months ,screws people out of money or parts($10,000.00+ at last count),gets recognized, banned, lays low for a bit and starts up again.Owns a shop in Arecibo,Puerto Rico.Payment for purchased parts was to be directed to his wife Maria.
I have been emailing or calling on a daily basis......no response.
He may be selling on other sites.Should any of you see him surface under a new name please let me know.Should any of you have any input as to a direction to take in this matter I would be most interseted.
Al

There is a website www.IC3.gov I was told this is the place to file for internet fraud etc. Perhaps if everyone were to file through the same agency you would have better luck?

At least start here:
http://www.ic3.gov/
File a complaint with the FBI internet fraud site. When I got ripped off I got a form from my states attorney general through the FBI site. Contact your local police department, not his. Find others that have been ripped off and get them to report to the FBI. Turn up the heat. short of showing up at his house you just have to make his life miserable. The clown that was ripping me and others off, we just kept it up until it was obvious that he was in trouble, and I got my money back. There is no guarantee that you will get you money back, but keep the pressure up. Don't let him get away with this! I know he is in Puerto Rico, I don't know how that will effect things.
Sorry about your bad luck,
Ray

PR is under Federal Jurisdiction for these types of crimes so there should be no effect/difference.

Do a search for user Shige since Shige(masa) has had a ton of problems with the same seller.

There is so little that can be done after the fact, but raising awareness to avoid the transaction is always a great idea. Thank you Al for letting us know. I think someone named Sonny had a 912 that I requested parts from and he was pulling my leg the whole time, I am glad I never paid him. At least I think it was Sonny.

Get someone who knows how to do a very effective i.p trace. The right 'hacker', for want of a better word will be able to find address details etc from your emails, using their i.p. address

In a thread a couple weeks back I was going to propose that Candy describe his background because his posts displayed he had an imense amount of solid P- turbo knowledge, a rare and interesting person I thought, though a little odd how he showed up out of the blue.

Perhaps he just likes nose candy.

Keep at it Browzer!

Maybe someone could start up an escrow system with a small fee to cover their time etc? Just a thought

Slightly off topic but has some relationship. Over the years I have watched this board become a haven for thieves that prey on the enthusiastic Porsche hobbyist. Of course there are scammers everywhere but in the past the Porsche cult had maintained a higher level of integrity. (That may seem like sobery but it is true)

A little extreme, but broken fingers would certainly keep him off the keyboard.

I tend to agree with daloff, except in two critical areas--I don't see the board as a "haven", and the maintaining of integrity is certainly not snobbery. Knowledge is power and as Earlyporsche said, I thank Al for the information on this scammer. To me, this is still the most credible forum I have found and it's due to the basic honesty and ethics of the members (you too, Wayne .) This forum has always held it's members to a "higher standard" through the peer pressure of the contributors. Yes, the con artists are here ("con" being short for "confidence") and they will always operate in an environment of trust such as this board. The one thing, IMO, that we cannot let them steal is that trust and the efforts of members like Browzer52 and others to inform and pursue, protects us all.
Sorry for the rant--coffee's a bit strong this morning.

Sadly true. I have had much better luck dealing with strangers on Ebay than with folks on this BBS.

Even more frustrating, I've had the interesting experience of seeing other BBS members come to the defense of someone operating blatantly and intentionally illegally. The presumed advantage of a community like this is that we take some effort to act in each others' interest. For the most part, that's what people do. However, Ebay has a feedback system, while the feedback here is very informal and inconsistent.

Don't mess with Joe, trust me!

Do we have a 'blacklist' of vendors we know we have problems with?
