WTB:for H-4's / the tiny running light that goes inside.

Hi guys,

I bought some used H-4's and they didn't come with the small round marker / daylight running lights. There is a powered round fitting designed for them. I'm sorry to have to describe this part but I can't find reference to it on our hosts parts lists.

If anyone has a pair or knows what they are called or a part # or simply have some sitting around I'd appreciate some direction here.

Regards and thanks,

Scott

P.S. I can take a picture if necessary.

They're called "city lights"

you mean you can have this feature with H4s? I thought this was only available on H1s. Can you retrofit an H4 that did not originally have them?

not clear- are you looking for the socket that holds the bulb, or the bulbs?
bulbs are available at any parts store, not Porsche specific.
sounds like you already have the socket?

Yes H4's have them. Euro H4's, not the ones that fit into a 'sugar scoop'.

Don't remember H1's having city lights. H1's have separate high and low beam bulbs and reflectors, tho.

The bulbs for city lights are the same as the parking light bulbs.

I will have to check how to add to my H4s then. They are Euro Bosch, so I guess they have them, but not connected.

They are H-4's probably "Euro"

I should be more clear....they are H-4's and yes bkreigsr I am looking for the sockets (2). TCAR thanks the bulb size helps if I can find the socket w/bayonet. I've done a search and found a picture.

Here we go I'm hoping to get these babies functional because I'm an obsessed freak
with a serious problem here.

Thanks for the help.

have you tried to swap it with one of your instrument light sockets?
I think the bulbs are the same, so the socket should be the same.
The gauges use 2 watt, but you can go up to 4 watt in the city light.

But do the instrument light sockets have the spade connector on the end?

Scott were you able to verify that the instrument lights will work?

I looped mine into the parking light connections on both sides to power them up at the same time the p lights are on.
Bill K
yes, the light sockets have a male spade on the business end - at least the ones on the cars I'm familiar with - 73 & 77

Hmmmm....I have a spare string of intrument light sockets but they must be from a SC or newer because they do not have a spade end.

I'll have to see if I can find someone with a pair to sell.

Exclamation Replacement..Solution for Euro H4 with City lights

I had same problem finding the tiny socket..

I found a socket that fits perfect on the hole inside (not the metal holder)

The metal was bend up, and a rubber socket was just a bolt on...

Yo also need to wire the power and ground wires for them to work along with marker lights...

I will post a picture of the socket and light i used (you can use either led or clear lights)..

This might help you settle that problem..

MiCk...

Let me know if this fitting is for you...

Yes. That's how the city lights were wired on my US spec LandRover Discovery from the factory.

Came on w/ the p lights.

Mick,

I'd love to know what you used (exactly) as I'm not to hopeful about finding the real McCoy. My car is not a collector car (except to me!) so a McGiver solution to this is much appreciated.

TCAR,

Yes there are holes with adjacent spade for ground? And Mick you're one of the reasons that I love Pelican! Happy to pay any associated costs.
