FS: Rebuilt Alternator (and a Voltage Regulator)

SOLD!!! $100 plus shipping from 93561. Both are in fine working condition.

The story here is a bit frustrating… this alternator is from my 2.4L motor that has the 901.106.101.5R fan housing. Upon closer inspection, this is the WRONG alternator for the 69-73 housing! That explains why the PO didn’t install the air duct on the back (bolts were too short for it)! Worse yet, since it is taller than the 69-73 version (see the 3rd pic, correct 69-73 alt. shown for reference) it pushes the fan belt out too far so things don’t line up correctly with the crank pulley. Not a good situation overall, so out it goes. Somehow, a very reputable shop missed this (I have the receipt)…

So, end of sob story. The alternator has less than 200 miles on it, and coupled with the shown/included voltage regulator works as intended when installed (and wired) properly. Both are SEV Marchal and the alternator was rebuilt by Beck/Arnley. I am not wiling to take my 78 SC apart to compare this alternator to the new Valeo I put in it last year (the one with an integrated voltage reg.) but I am thinking that is the car this is for. Here are a couple of dimensions to help with fitment. The bolts that go through the fan housing extend 33mm forward of the mounting flange (that should help you make sure there is enough threads to install your air duct) and the main body of the alternator housing extends out 73mm behind that same flange, just measured from the other face of it (that should help you make sure your fan/pulley end up in the right spot). The threads on the alternator shaft are the 16mm variety, so that makes me think this is for the mid-year cars/early SC since it doesn’t have the integrated voltage regulator in it.

Sorry for the somewhat long explanation… just want people to know what they are looking at AND I don’t want anyone else to have as much “fun” as I just did! I have started calling situations like these, “undoing the sins of the past”.

Please PM me if you are interested or need more info/pictures (and provide a zip code so I can get you a shipping quote). PayPal works fine for me...

Thanks for listening...

I'll take it. You don't happen to have the nut that goes with it do you?

Let me know how much for shipping to 46220 and how you want to be paid.
