Classic 79 Targa, Add Fog Lights or Not?

I am looking for advice:

I have a pristine 1979 Taga in Minerva blue but no fog lights. I want to keep the car in the original 1979 condition. Should I add fog lights or not? That is the question.

No. They look better without fogs, and the stock fog lights suck anyways.

Did it ever have fogs? My 78 never had them so it's got a front valence with no holes.

Regardless, I also think they look much better without fogs.

i am swapping my 83 front valance for an 84 for the recessed fogs. imho the SC fogs always looked like they were an afterthought, like someone at the factory said "Damn, we forgot to add the fogs! quick, stick em on the front end!"

My original valance has no holes and also no indentations for possible fog lights. The valence is in excellent shape with only very few minor gravel pits. Most of the time I drove the car with a bra.

Mine is like that... they are actually fairly rare.

Looks like the majority opinion is: DON'T CHANGE! I agree. It looks better as is. I did not know that the stock fog lights are so inefficient, even the later ones that are better integrated into the valance.

And another question:
As you can see from the picture my car did not come with a passenger side mirror. Should I add one, or leave it allone also?

Just an update on the fog lights: Everybody lies pictures, so here is one of my first Porsche (1962 356B) on ski trip in Europe. Those fog lights really put out the light!

Wow, that's a nice looking '79. Very rare configuration, at least for a US model car.

By '79, most US SCs had foglights on them, they also had the passenger side mirror, partial leather interior and blackout out trim. Your car looks great with the cloth interior, clean passenger door, chrome trim and no fog lights. Looks like it still has California blue plates on it, too.

It looks like a really nice survivor, in a rare configuration and a great color, too. I wouldn't touch a thing on it!

Leave it as is. You can not get it any cleaner. The fog lights and the right side mirror are of minimal use.

lights

buy another valence and have it painted to match, then put whatever lights you want in it.

while you are at it get a hood and have it painted, then run hood lights.

Hellob2524,

interesting idea, I'll give it some thought. Then I could but some real lights on and still keep the original hood as backup.
