FS: 1982 3.0 longblock core engine
***Update 10/24: SOLD. Thanks Pelican!***
For sale - 1982 3.0 longblock core engine. Fan shroud, distributor, coil, oil cooler, flywheel, and heat exchangers are also included. Local buyer is preferred but shipping on a pallet is an option (forwardair.com, uship.com, engineshipping.com). Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Engine was rebuilt in 1996 by Werkstatt Unlimited in Falls Church, VA. Rebuild cost was ~$5500 which included new 3.2 tensioners, engine gasket set, new rod bearings/bolts/nuts, new head studs, (2) new exhaust valves, used set of P&Cs, new valve guides, and more. I have a copy of the detailed invoice available in pdf format that I can email to anyone interested in the engine. Mileage estimate is 160k miles total, 60k on the rebuild. It is believed cylinder #6 ring is bad. Cylinder #4 also showing low compression and high leakdown. #4 may just be from sitting and not being driven frequently. Engines spins free and ran seemingly good. When I pulled my 3.2 to install the 3.6 my buddy (who owns this 3.0) purchased my 3.2 and pulled this 3.0. Did not leak oil when driven and parked. Recent compression and leakdown test results performed by the owner: Cylinder #, compression value psi, leakdown % 1, 150, 10 2, 160, 10 3, 160, 12 4, 100, 30 5, 150, 5 6, 15, 100 I'll post pics this weekend. Please send me a PM/email or post here if you are interested. Thanks! ![]() Last edited by PcarPhil; 10-29-2011 at 04:36 AM.. |

Yesterday someone asked if the cylinders are Nikasil or Alusil. I'm not 100% sure but based on fin count (11) I believe they are Nikasil.

Bump!
BTW shipping doesn't absolutely need to be with Forward Air. It does have to be convenient though. Consider checking uship.com and engineshipping.com I'm guessing the longblock with heat exchangers and pallet (no CIS, alternator, fan, fan housing) weighs ~400 lbs. If it makes it any cheaper I could have a truck with liftgate meet me at a business location and offload the engine from my pickup truck onto the liftgate vs. having a truck come to my rural house. Alternately I could drop it off at Forward Air. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks! |

Well number 4 has a cracked valve guide and #6 piston melted due to detonation and left parts all inside the case
