FS: High-End Aftermarket Stereo System (Nakamichi)

I am selling a high-end aftermarket Nakamichi stereo system that I removed from my ’89 911 Turbo. I decided to re-install the original Blaupunkt Reno head unit and amp because I want to put my car back to original. There is nothing wrong with any of the components as everything was working properly when I removed it last month (the only issue is some cosmetic scratches on top of the Nakamichi amp). Again, I only removed this system because I want my car all original. Please note that I am not looking to part this out . . . I’d like to sell the whole thing together. I will entertain all reasonable offers (just PM me and I’ll get back to you ASAP).

I am not an “audiophile” and won’t get into too much of the technical lingo, but this system sounds REALLY NICE and the previous owner must have spent a fortune on it. In a nutshell, the system consists of:

1) Nakamichi CD player head unit with detachable face and remote (CD-45)
2) Nakamichi 800 Watt 4-Channel power amplifier (PA-2004)
3) Pioneer 200 Watt 2-Channel power amplifier (GM-X362)
4) A professionally-made subwoofer enclosure covered in Cashmere Beige carpeting that installs in the rear seat foot wells (see photo of it still in the car) with two MTX Audio “Thunder 6000” speakers
5) Lightning Audio 1 Farad Strike Capacitor (I had it discharged for storage)
6) All associated cables and wires (I labeled EVERYTHING as I removed it)
7) Wiring harness for head unit to tap into original stereo connections

When I disconnected all the wires I labeled everything in case I ever wanted to re-install it. If you are smart with car stereo installation, this will be a snap for you. If your skills are a bit limited, you may want to seek out professional help. Either way, I am including everything I took out. The only service manual I have is for the CD-45 head unit.

Just so you know, the BIG Nakamichi amp (made in the USA by the way) was installed under the passenger’s seat. It powered the rear subwoofers as well as the door speakers. The Pioneer amp was installed under the driver’s side seat and powered the original rear speakers. The capacitor was installed in the trunk just in front of the spare tire. Note that I am keeping the original door speakers and my original rear speakers. The only speakers you get are the two MTX subwoofers in the rear foot well enclosure.

I packaged everything very well in a double-wall china box. The box is large (18” x 19” x 46”) and weighs 81 lbs (a lot of that is in the packing material). I will ship it UPS ground from zip code 36054 (Millbrook, AL). You can go onto UPS’ website and get a shipping estimate to your zip code. Just enter the above weight and dimensions and it will tell you how much shipping will cost. If you are close by and want to pick it up, that works too.

Listed below are all the technical specifications I could find on the Internet (don’t ask me what all this stuff means):

Sorry -- Asking $500

Yeah, sorry guys. I spent so much time typing all this crap out and downloading the pics that I forgot that rule. As far as price, I was thinking $500 for everything as I know the previous owner said he had several thousand dollars in the original installation.

By the way, the head unit is amber in color and really complements the Porsche interior and guages.

Sean,

Thats a good price. Should sell pretty fast! Used to have a Nak system on one of my cars and it sounded great.

Would buy it myself but just finishing up doing the A/C on my car and not flush with $$ right now.

Consider it SOLD

I received 5 full price offers in just a few hours, so consider it sold. I guess I priced it too cheaply . Oh well, it's going to a good home.

If for some reason the deal falls through, I'll start going down the list. Thanks for all the interst.

High quality system.
GREAT images.
GREAT description.
GREAT SELLER.
Yes, it was a good price, but if it hadn't been presented so well it might well have sat here unsold.
I see a lot of things here that I pass on because sellers don't seem to think they need to include information or decent images. [I also see a certain amount of junk hiding behind poor descriptions and images!]

Congratulations all around. Wish I had been first :-> Nak still builds great equipment.

Thanks for the kind words JR.

Just so I don't leave anyone hanging, I received full payment yesterday and the stereo is officially on its way to CA. Thanks Steve . . . hope you enjoy it. Now I can start "jammin away" to a casette tape in my Blaupunkt Reno . . . all 40 Watts of it.
