If you wanted to replicate the Singer look more closely, I think you should start with an H5 reflector. The H5 starts at the trim ring and cones back all the way to the bulb, just like the Singer. You'd have to remove the H5 lens and add the clear lens, then fit the projector to the center. With the H5 there's a lot of framework to build off of on the back, too. We've seen people fit HIDs with all those little boxes right on the back of the H5 assembly. -- Matt

Rothaus I paid close attention to your thread. Aesthetically I prefef the look of the Singer lamp from a design perspective. I have been running HIDs since 2007 in my H4s sans the projector.

Just an FYI, even if Singer sold their lamps, they will not fit to a Porsche Fender, they use a custom bucket from composite and the angle of the lens / Ring / bucket is Further laid back then a stock H1/H4/H5 design. So they are not compatible from a fitment standpoint into a stock Porsche fender.. unless you were to cut out the entire steel bucket and graft a complete new one in...

A very similar version of the A-P's can be made for roughly $40. All you need is a couple clear H4 clear lens made for an old VW (these are still sold as new). Here are mine.

I just purchased 2 of these:

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111941115HW

I have not driven much at night, so I cannot confirm how well they perform. Biggest concern is the metal cover over the bulb (you can see it in my picture as well as the A-P version).

Sorry, been rainy here so not been able to get any better pictures.

The Singers have a projector in them, not a metal block to light dispersion.

This is what I have in the green car, together with a set of BMW Bi-Xenon HID projectors. See the picture in the post above. I used gass etcher to make the frosted look in the upper section of the glass. I used the same projectors for my 150 truck. Once you have HID projectors it's hard to go back to normal lights.
The upgrade just with Xenon bulbs cannot even come close.

Cheers
Engelbert

Hamptonsam-

What light holder/reflector are you using?

Are your light assys actually H4's with these clear lenses fitted? They look really good.

Great job.

How is the light cut off? Does it make a nice even cutoff like the H4's? Do you have any pics of lighting on a garage door?

Sorry Geronimo
but the Hella device is a big thing, approx 15 cm long and I am sure without seeing it, that the Singer guys have some of the part sticking out beside the light bucket in the back ,
you just need to drill a hole in the bucket like 5 cm dia
as said its nothing similar to the other options mention here like the AP etc
its 99% as the Singer ,

Marek-

Please add your email contact info or email me. I have new & complete Bosch H4s, the clear H4 lenses and am willing to cut a small hole in my headlight buckets if it mean better & safer lighting.

What is the Hella unit you speak of?
