just wondering, is there anything special about the 930 struts that would make this a upgrade on a 89 carrera ?

Thanks

Herman,

Struts are the same, hubs on 930's sre different.

Unless you have Boge Struts, which are different than these.

911 and 930 struts are interchangeable, some 911s used Bilstein struts as an option and all 930s used Bilstein struts as standard. Stock Bilstein insert is the same as the Bilstein HD insert that can be purchased as a replacement part

The hubs have nothing to do w/ the struts, yes, 930 hubs from mid '80 on are different from 911 hubs but either goes on any of the struts

Just a note the struts do go bad, if you get a shudder under moderately hard to hard braking it could be a bad strut

Thank you all for better explaining the advantage of the 930 struts.

Bill, when you talk about a bad strut causing a shudder, do you mean a failed shock insert or the actual strut body causing a shudder?

I'm having early ( 1974 I think) KONI struts with 3.5inch calliper mount converted to coilover for my 1989 project. Still not sure if this is the good route .

Thanks again for the replies

Aren't 930 A-arms a little longer than standard 911 ones? IIRC, the ball joint is pushed outboard an inch or so.

The actual strut pictured above, several of us have had to replace the entire strut, all that I know of are tracked cars w/ big brakes, either 930 or other.

On mine I replaced the insert first and that didn't solve the problem, a new strut did. I don't know if the others tried an insert or not but again when new struts were installed the problem was solved.

A or track contol arms are certainly different but nothing that effects track width.

All the difference in front track between a 911 and a 930 is in the wheels or the wheel spacers used thu '80 on 911s or on the hubs used on 930 from '80 on.

The back is a different story as the 930 trailing arms add to the track width over that of a 911 in addition the 930s all used big as**d spacers and toward the end wider 9" wheels
