FS: Mechanical Front & Rear Hood Struts

The original 3 are gone but I have been making more for those interested. All are natural aluminum finish now. Please reply in the thread or send a PM with the quantity you need(You only need 1 front and/or 1 rear per car). $75 each plus shipping. These weigh next to nothing and are mechanical with zero preload and zero gas to leak out. Pull the hood up and it stays in place, pull the little knob to release and lower the hood.

are these for 911 or 356? how useful would one be for a fiberglass hood?

These are 911/912/930. The 356 has a mechanical catch from the factory :-) Yes, they are intended for composite and aluminum hoods so they don't get stressed by a gas charged unit. They also work well on hoods with driving lights that might not normally stay open with a gas strut.

Thank you for the interest guys. The 2 sandblasted ones have been sold and the natural finish one is going to shakinjoe pending payment. Just to follow up on the questions you would only use 1. I'm going to make some rears for the guy that bought the last batch and will try to squeeze in a few more fronts for those that have expressed interest.

Cheers,
Nick

I have half a dozen fronts and rears available. $75 each and $5.95 for priority mail shipping within USA, a few bucks more to get them to Europe.

I would like a front and a rear. Is the intention to use only one on front along with a standard gas shock on the other side?

You just need 1, you can leave a gas strut on the other side if you want a little dampening on the hood/trunk closing since these have almost no resistance. That's how it is on my 993 because the other side was a PITA to remove but on a 911 I don't bother leaving a gas strut in place.

Cheers,
Nick

Will this hold a factory 935 rear deck lid open? If so I will take one front and one rear...
