1965 to early 1968 rear lid grill

From 1965 to early 1968 Porsche 911 rear back lid grill. Did the Porsche factory paint in between the bars of the grill black?

My '66 did not have black paint on the flat bars of the grill

the screen should be black.
the aluminum bars and spacers are bare aluminum.

on the 'S's the deck lid, the area under the grill was painted flat black.
there was a small border around the grill that was body color.
