Wife needs 911 widebody with V8 conversion (and AC)
Once again, launching a search for a COMPLETELY finished (no projects, no "just needs this or that...") 911 widebody with V8 conversion and AC THAT WORKS (none of those that "...just needs Freon charge").
The only thing that might be acceptable as unfinished is paint. Need I say, must have heat that works too. Can be manual or automatic. Prefer coupe rather than cab or targa, but???? Otherwise, I have too many project cars to have to add hers to the list. Color might not be important (although she does choose her horses based on their colors). Would prefer to trade plus cash, but whatcha got? Thanks. (live in Portsmouth, VA, but can travel across country via motorhome) Anyone? Cars available for trade: 2002 996 Targa/Tip (165K miles); 2007 BMW Z4 coupe (red; 49K miles); 1968 Jag 420G 4-door RHD restored |

I understand her, those original V8 turbo wide bodies from the 70s especially in an automatic were amazing. I'm sure you'll pick one up soon on here.

1 - v8? Sonia (wifey) got into hotrod v8 jags 1980ish XJS's (had 3 of those POSs), for all the reasons Renegades lists- HP, maintenance, hipo parts, cost, and can I say it, reliability...
2 - female hotrodder? Yah, prob why she married me -- to have an on-site mechanic to keep them going. First car out of college was a brand new 914 (back in the day). Turning into the little old lady from Portsmouth. Any leads? Seems there are mostly cars-not-quite-there. |

Talk to Scott at Renegade Hybrids in Las Vegas. He can knock one out quickly if you have a roller. Renegade Hybrids

His rep is that his rides don't need sorting out once finished. His shop is Prolly the number one conversion center for Porsches. His Boxster conversion was REALLY nice. I saw it at TRE's hangover run last year.
He sometimes does cars on spec when he sees a reasonably priced ride with a bad motor. Call him.....you never know.

Do a search in Technical for LS"X" or V8, see who built them, PM them with a ridiculous offer they'd have to take, done.

However, what kind of price range should I be considering reasonable -- obviously, the sky's not going to be the limit for my pocketbook. $15K, $20K, $25K, ++? |

Well, yah. I tried 928, Mustang, Corvette -- go down the list.
But just like all of us, as we get older, the car manufacturers know that we harken back to the cars of our youth -- hence all the old farts buying the re-tooled Challengers, Chargers, Mustangs, Camaros, etc. Hence, the Porsche fixation, and specifically the 911. |

I have been reading some conversion threads, and I am seeing that many of them start with great ambitions, energy and aggression, with meticulous posts detailing their progress.
THEN THEY MEET OBSTACLES, and the projects never get completely and totally done. (Obstacles like: relationships, kids, jobs requirements, money, boredom with the project, newer and faster (and finished) cars, etc. Hmmm, seems like I have a few examples in my garages too. Boredom being my usual obstacle. |
