Engine and trans mounts
How many engine / trans mounts does a 69 / 912 have?
Thanks, C. Clark |

The trans has one rubber mount near where the linkage enters the car, and the motor has two that are accessible from inside the compartment. They are the two at the end of the bar that resembles a strut brace.

Hi, If you are referring to the rubber blocks, there are two for the trans and 6 for the engine. Later, JMB...

I don't under stand, are the 6 rubbers the major engine mounts or are they bumpers of some kind?
I'm planning on replacing all the mounts and want to order before I pull the engine and trans. Thanks, C. Clark |

Those mounts on the cross member of the engine are the engine mounts. There are four on my 67 engine and 2 on the gear box brace. Old ones tend to split and crack and lose their supportive properties. I also replaced all the mounts after doing some engine work and it was well worth it. But if my memory serves me correct they wern't the cheapest of things to buy.

Hello again, For the 1969 model year, the six square rubber isolation blocks are the engine mounts. They attach to the engine brackets and crossmember with 12mm bolts. The crossmember is then bolted directly to brackets on the frame.
The transmission uses the same style of isolation block to attach to the trans mount. They will be costly as noted in the other post. However, they will last for years. Good Luck, JMB... [This message has been edited by mein12 (edited 07-08-2001).] |
