911 engine conversion to 1967 912

Will a 1971 911 2.2 liter E engine type 911/01 fit in a 1967 912 with a 901 301 101 0R 5 speed transmission? Will the sheet metal fit? Does the starter motor bolt up? I know that I will need new motor mounts and an oil tank and cooler. Would appreciate some tips from the expertise out there. [/COLOR]

Its a definate fit, you will need to use the 2.2's engine tin, nothing from the 912 tin wise will can/be used. The existing 912 motor mounts will have to be cut out and 911 engine mounts welded in, you will need to cut out the openings for the oil tank in the rr inner well, you will need a correct fuel pump plus add a fuel return line back to the tank. You will need to upgrade rear shocks and install rear stabilizer bar the 2.2 is about 250 lbs heavier. Try doing a search either here or on the 911 board it has been done a few times before.
