69 door pockets

Hello,
I going to make an attempt to restore my door panel side pockets. They as one might imagine need repair, recovering and reinstallation. My interior now is completely leather with my own custom designed door panels (nice but clearly not original). The original trim on the door pockets is vinyl, were they or has anyone ever covered them with leather? Is the aluminum trim available? Has anyone ever tried soaking/wetting them and then reforming correctly.
I searched "Early 911S" and they generally buy either OEM or Repo's....$$$$$$. I'm considering returning the 912 to it's original condition (sort of..or close), this seems a challenging place to start. These pockets were used from 69 thru 73 I have read, the 912 & 911's.

door pockets

I don't know how the '69 differs from '70; my impression - and only that - is that there is almost none.
Since you mention the $$$, likely identical?
In restoring my 1970 911, I was shocked to see the NOS price of these things. Then I got mine, left and right, from Van Kessel in the Netherlands. They have a modest website, speak english well, and are of course great people. Since I am in Belgium, it was only a 90 min drive. [I am the red Targa in Dec2010 Excellence.] I am sure they will mail, and the price difference will be worth it. I recall paying something like $40 for each, left/right. That may have included the armrest/handle.
If you ring them, mention me...the number on their website you need to precede with 011 [from the USA], then 31, then drop their first zero.
Give it a try.

Same here, my car came with non-original and poor mockups of a panel... I have looked around a lot, for 69 pockets.
At some point even for a lousy pair to model new ones. Everyone that had some better or worse were all outrageous, in proportion.
So I ended up doing a pre '68 fabric pocket along the bottom with my 69 armrests..

Bruce in Ventura can restore the pockets. I'm not sure what he charges, but it's way less then a new or replica set. He's done several sets for me. If you want his contact information, PM me.
