Radius arms in and set at 30 degrees. Should have a nice stance.

some details,

Radius arms are in and set at 30 degrees from level as noted. This should give the car a nice low stance. 912s in '68 were set much higher [@36] so that they wouldn't handle better than the 911 !
I use a Porsche Optimoly lube for rubber to aid installing standard suspension bushings. This helps w the tight install, prevents squeaks and will keep moisture out. Modern Porsche dealerships use this in applications where one needs to slip coolant hoses over aluminum.
I use plenty of zinc enriched primer in the torque tube and inside the A arms and a little 'never seize' on my restored torsion bar splines. My original hardware is cleaned, wire wheeled and parafin waxed for a nice working look patina. Be sure to seal the A arms caps with a quality sealant.

Headliner time in order to put glass in.. I got the front end height set and aligned the front wheels [string line method]
This part is very enjoyable.

My Grandmother Aida's scissors are super sharp, they remind me of her while working.

I always keep the original here^ it's the birth certificate in my mind. Wrong door check pin i know..can't have them swinging in the breeze.

Headliner install is complete with padding, trimmed and glued and original 49 year old lighting installed.

The screws for the sun visors and coat hooks are in place so that they aren't hidden.

This is an enjoyable project. Going black elephant hide [vinyl] for the interior as everyone seems to be going red. Elephant hide was an option for '68.

The remaining kinks in the vinyl from being tightly folded will go away over time.

aligned by string line

I made it and thank you.

Porsche paint code #622 is made up of white, black and a lot of Yellow. Because of this, I tried light yellow as an accent.

I'm not thrilled with the light yellow, trying white or black next.

I went through the wire and all seems good to go.

The yellow accents are gone. yuk.

Anyway, To get the fenders on I had to figure out the dry sump oiling /cooling system.

Like a 911R and later 911s, I wanted fender mounted coolers.

I think one fender mounted remote oil cooler will do the job considering the big 911 fan, dry sump tank, lines and 9-10 qts of oil capacity. I could always add a second cooler on the left side like an R if i need one in the future.

My friend Mike was telling me about this kool feature of a 1950 Pontiac: a retracting fuel filler cap.. so that's what my dry sump tank will do [will pivot] to make removing the tiny vintage Blau cap easy. I found the correct filler neck bung through a military suplier.

For the hard oil lines I've fabricated, I'll adapt NPT thread to AN (3/4" to -12)

This is much cooler than buying a cooler. A 'trombone' style cooler along with the big 911 fan, dry sump tank and long oil lines will cool my small but potent 2 liter 4's oil well.

I used thin wall Type M for the long runs (which do a lot of cooling) Type L for the 'trombone' which is thicker to be tougher to handle rocks and such.

I figure it will do the job on 2/3s of a flat 6 if Porsche used a similar setup on the 2.7s..If you think about how small the factory coolers are on the 4s, I think a normal cooler would be way too much and then need a louvered cover to protect it. This i can just hose off.

all soldered up with 95/5. This can now be tested first with compressed air and and soapy water.

It held 120 psi, now I can install my fiberglass R fenders. I'll also use these fittings to blow out the pipe of any small debris. I'll back out each stainless sheet metal screw that holds this in place and touch up zinc prime and paint. Then I'll use a dab of black 50 year Loctite Sealant to seal the holes.

What a difference fenders make even loosely fitted.
The oil lines were removed, cleaned and slight adjustments were made to fit better. The chassis is corrosion proofed where I had to drill.

I love this SWB Porsche !

I seem to get most excited about the rear-end treatment of my Porsches before a build. I think historically Porsche's designers may have too when penning a new model or racing car.
Could be because they knew it's all most other drivers would see.
