I like that shade of yellow. Is that one of the factory colors, like 'chrome yellow'? |
Hmmmm still no replies to these questions.....????http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/vuur1.gif

THat yellow one is ok, what do you guys think of this black 914 with steel slant nose fenders?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...14-6 copy2.jpg
|
I do have rocker pannels and the headlight cover, so ignore those missing pieces
|
confused,
The steel slant-nose looks good. Was this a kit, or did you fabricate it? I also like the fact that you retained the orig bumper and pad. Hard to tell how well that mixes with the slant nose though - especially from pics. Enjoy! |
The steel slant nose was fabricated, you use your factory fenders and cut them up, bend them over. The chrome front bumper fits nicely with the slant fenders. The trick was where the hell do you put the turn signals? I mounted everything up and looked for a spot and viola! Under the horn grilles. This is even easier if you dont have fog lights. I went to the local generic auto parts supplier and bought a standard yellow turn signal housing and they fit nicely under the horn grille.

Why make a 914 look like a Pontiac Fiero?
|
You don't know what you are talking about, it doesn't look like a Fiero
|
Well, maybe not. But you have to admit the car's front appearance is beginning to lose the character of the 914 and approach that of a lot of other cars, like those pictured at http://www.fiero.nl/gallery/ All it needs it a big molded bumper matching the body color. BTW, you're the one that asked for an opinion.

Confused Looks nice you might help out by filling in your Location.

I'm in Los Angeles.
Hey 914GT you already like Pontiacs way too much. Your eye is way off. Changing the fenders on the 914 doesn't change it that much. I just don't see any resemblence to a Fiero at all. You can say my car doesn't appeal to you but you can't say it looks like that car... that is just a stupid statement. The lines between the to cars are completly different. Why don't you put a pic of your car up, I'll tell you what looks stupid on your car. Do you have a car? |
That is the only front end modification I've ever seen that I liked, it's very 935.
I'd have to work out some other signals. Nice job, it doesn't look like a Chalon! M |
Confused, I like some of the old 60's Pontiacs (GTO) but that's about it. The Fiero isn't a bad looking car and I'm sure it has its admirers, just like us 914 crowd, but I'm not really one of them. I didn't say your's looked stupid and it will look sharp when you get it all together. The only point I'm trying to make is a modification can often take away a unique design feature of the 914. There are lot of cars on the road that have the slant nose is all, another example is the 924.
I've got four cars and two trucks registered in my name. I sold my first 914 many years ago, but bought another one last fall and it's going through a restoration. Today I hope to get the primer/surfacer sprayed on. I can put up pics if you like, but basically it's at a 'pre-stupid' stage right now. |

I like they way the slant nose looks with the stock bumpers. Do you have any fabrication pictures? Regards Claus Graf 1974 914 1.8 (with a lot of rust, bondo & fiberglass) |
