charcoal canister line routing

I have a diagram on the charcoal hose routing that shows one line to the fan shroud and one to the air breather. Is there a direction to the flow or does it not matter. I could not see an inlet or arrow marking on the canister.

It does matter; doing it backwards can cause problems.

Sadly, I do not remember which way around it goes.
