Where can I get 4 lug wheels to fit my flared car?

Help! I have looked everywhere! I cant find 4 lug wheels that will work with my gt flares. I would even go with custom nascar wheels. I found a place called diamond racing wheels, and they will build you anything you want for cheap. but there are a couple of problems.... 1. the wheels they build are lug centric, and I have yet to fing a place that has the equiptment balance 4x130 wheels. ..... 2. the wheels require a half inch 45 degree lugnut. I don't know what the taper on the stock lug bolt is, but I suspect it is 60 degrees.

I really dont want to do a five lug conversion, because I have neither the time or the money. I dont want to use lug adapters either.

thanks
zach

Hi Zach,

The lugs nuts are spherical, not tapered.

Try: www.thesamba.com in the classifieds section. If you don't find the weels you are looking for, place an ad in the wheels wanted section. Centerline used to make wheels for the VW and 914 130mm.... maybe they still do? Or you could take stock steel wheels and have them widened by ione of the shops that does it.

By the way, funny coincidence, I'm making flares for another Zach on his 914 here in Seattle. He was asking about wider 5 bolt wheels on the other board just recently.

PM me. I have some American Racing wheels (I think 7 inch) with 22560R15 Yokohama AVS dbs on them. They have maybe 5-10 miles on the rubber.

I have seen some nice steel wheels (both chrome and painted) on a 4 x130 pattern. The owner has them on his race car. When he got them they were available in most widths and custom offsets for in the $45 to $50 each range. I do not think the company that made them still makes that pattern. It is Fast Wheel in Tulsa, OK (918)599-9022. If they still make them I would be interested in a set or more. They are on my list to call, when I have spare time.

Wide 4 bolt wheels

I had a set made that were 15 x 8 and 15x7. They looked exactly the came as the Kinesis and HRE basketweave patterns. I got piles of compliments on them. They were not cheap however - like 180 - 200 per wheel. I sold them to one of the guys on this list when I did my 5 bolt conversion. I bought them from a big VW parts house that has a shop in both Calif and in Canada - I think they were called California Imports.

wow - OLD picture!

[EDIT--I merged this post into the correct thread.--DD]

Panasport has made 914 wheels in the past. They had a website, but last I checked it was nonfunctional.

Revolution makes wheels that fit a lot of cars, and some of them fit 914s. http://www.ttrsracing.com .

There are one or two other manufacturers as well. You can also use VW Bug wheels, as they sit farther to the outside of the car than the 914 wheels do. The downside is that they're almost always no wider than stock (5.5"). But at least they come out further...
