Dumb Heater Question

As the subject states, here we go.

How do the heater flapper boxes install? Obviously, the j-tubes flare out. Are the levers that operate the flapper on top or on bottom? My car has never had these. They were sitting in my trunk.

Thanks for your help.

i think the levers are on the top. you can figure this out by the way the valves have to line up with the tubes to the heat exchangers and the hose to the duct/duct connection to flow the air to the cockpit and the cable wire position.

They are right and left hand valve. While they are out, verify operation. I had one fail and it flapped closed. The lever's are definitely on top.

We have one with the lever on top and one on the lever on the bottom! When you fit them on you will see where the wire to open them comes from near the middle of the fire wall and then manually pull the lever so the flapper opens. As James said it fails shut so you'll be able to figure it out. Heat is nice when we have those cold mornings in San Diego!!! Good luck.

Both of mine are on the bottom. I wonder if I re-installed them upside down? They both still work in that position though.

There are no dumb heater questions, just dumb heaters.
