Front Strut Question
This is going to sound really bad - but here goes.
A friend of mine just bought a 914 & it's complete except the front end was taken apart & it's missing the front struts. I'm going to give him my old ones as soon as I buy myself some new Bilsteins. However, he is chomping at the bit & can't wait (and he's broke). So, I was wondering if there are any cars out there that use the same size strut inserts (ie., vw's, etc..). If so, we are going to pay a visit to the local wrecking yard this weekend & pick up a set for a few bucks. I'm only speaking of the inserts. This is for a 1974. |

for not a lot of money ($31 each) he can get Gabriel gas charged inserts at a FLAPS. Not high performance but I'm betting better than 1974 stock Boge inserts, and almost certainly better than the 'pig in a poke' inserts you'll take out of yours... I'll let you know in a few months when I get time to install them.

I have a pile of them down here in Riverside, CA. Would have to pull the covers off to see what shocks are in them. Email if you want me to look. I'd have to check the numbers on the Konis I have. I believe I also have a set of MRA (Mullholland Racing Assoc) shocks by Interpart.
