Rusty rotors?
Has anyone ever clear coated the rotors to keep them from rusting out right away. I know when I put them on my yellow car, they were rusty in about a week or so. I was thinking of putting a clear coat over the center hub portion to try to keep them looking shiny.

Works! ![]() M

Is that the redneck way of turning the rotors Miles? I usually take them to a machine shop and spend $7.00 a rotor to have them turned.

It does sound like a good idea... Well, not where these guys are taking it, but putting some kind of protection on the hub area of the rotor. You don't want it to be too thick, though, as that might make the wheel sit against the hub unevenly.

I'd expect that the clearcoat wouldn't take the high temp of use. Perhaps hightemp silver/aluminum ?

Well, I painted them with a high temp clearcoat. Time will tell. It will be next spring before this car sees anything but garage light. I know they will still look good when I roll it out of the garage. We will see after a year of driving how they look.
