how do you get the circlip out of the dizzy shaft?

Hi all

it's dizzy rebuild time, and i've never done this w/ the 914. does anyone have any advice on how to get the little circlip (just beneath the felt pad) out of the top of the distributor cam shaft?

i assume this is necessary in order to extract the weights down below.

thanks, nathan

Nathan-
I've done a bzillion times. Get a punch that fits down there and one swift tap usually right in the center of the post and the shaft usually comes apart. I've never seen pliers that'll fit down there, they may exist, but the tap works.
Regards,
Robert O

The punch technique is the same thing John Larson does when he rebuilds dizzy's.
