914 seat options
I have just finished a five bolt conversion on my 71 using a 911sc front end and studed rear hubs. The handling and breaking are great! The problem is that I have old stock seats and with the better performance myself and any passenger are sliding all over the place while cornering. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on upgrading to seats of a more sporting nature?

Street or racing? Racing, you would be best served by installing a five point harness. An old budget bucks racing trick is to remove the seat pad....the rails in the side of the seat keep you in place.
Or you can buy a racing seat, like Recaro or Corbin. They are nice and clingy, but are a pain if you keep them in a daily driver... |

About a year ago, Koenig had a web site and they showed a seat designed specifically for the 914. The web site has since disappeared but they may still make the 914 seat.

Patrick racing in Phoenix sells the Koenig seat and they are pretty expensive it seems, they are on the web and Jim is good to talk to. They are copies of the 914 sport seat. I bought a used Corbeau that was made for 914s and it bolted to the stock adjusters. But as noted, it is hard for us old guys to get in and out of. You will probably have to get a pair of 5 point harnesses if you are going to do anything more than a casual autocross. Good luck.

I purchased two seats from Corbeau, the Classic II's. They are comfortable and give lots of support. Look good too! They can be a little tight, I'm 6ft 195lbs. If I go to 200 I won't fit! I also removed the back pad for a little more leg room. They mounted to the stock rails with minor adjusting and you can't beat the price, $166 each.

Thanks for the great info!; does anyone have the E-mail address for Patrick or their #?
The only place I have found on the web that has seats is AA and I would rather put rusty garbage cans in my car to sit on than buy another thing from them. |
