Smile It's the little things!

I got in the car after work today turned the key it cranked but nothing. In a split second a list of possible causes went thru my mind. The first thing I tried was pull the heat lever, nothing. Great my fuse was suspect thus no juice to the fuel pump. I spun the fuse (while the ignition was on) and the fan moter turned on and as I continued to spin the fuse the fan would run at various speeds due to how well it was makeing contact. I had a spare fuse and popped that in, the fan then hummed with much more velocity. Duh, I know, but it's great when my teener just needs a simple fix to make her happy. I would assume my fuel pump was not woking to par due to the crusty fuse (and it was crusty). I have had some bucking problems and thought it might be my TPS.
As I drove home it was much smoother with no bucking. Is my logic correct here? Anyway and again simple fixes make you feel the hero. On a side note to that being said. When makeing slow right hand turns a loud crunch and clunk would follow scareing the hell out of me. The sound became worse and always on the left front side. Fearing something tragic I jacked up the left side removed the wheel and realized the strut coller (if that is what it is called, the threaded peice that holds the strut in place) was finger tight and was holding on by a couple of threads. Another deft quick fix to make her happy! And lastly, I have no understanding of how to start new paragraphs. Whew, all done.

Jones, I just came to the realization that my 914 is just like my motocross bikes. Before I go out in or on either one of them I have to prep them. Clean, Check all the oils change if needed, Check all the appropriate nuts and bolts, Check tires, Check tire pressures, Check wheel bearing play, Lug nuts, Clean air cleaners, Check fuel lines, Check carb mounting nuts, Check lights etc. Wow it is time to drive down the street and Recheck. No time to ride or drive. Just kidding, that drive down the street was fun. I do take it on some long drives with no problems. This list was just for me, and it is just some of the stuff I do on either fast fun toy. Thank you for the A. It has been a long time since I hae been graded so high. Again enjoy your new toy. Mark

MXMARK, my teener is now my daily driver and 30 years old at that. We do have the Acura for her and any long trips we might make. All of the services for that are done by the shop and I would never touch that weird looking engine (I would'nt even try, its a maze of strange stuff).
What you are saying is dead on, I am going to write up a daily, monthly and yearly check/service list. It's easy to cry "money pit" and "time eater" but I made the decision to drive a car thats (relative) old, so it needs all the love I can provide. After all she is toteing my ass to work to make money. Of course to spend on her.... a vicious circle. German Christine... she calls me now... a siren song. Must go.
