320i Brake Upgrade

I'd like to upgrade my front brakes to BMW 320i calipers. I've read the Pelican tech article on this subject a couple times and can't quite visualize the machining that they describe. I don't have my car apart yet so, without a caliper right in front of me, I'm unsure of what surface they talk about milling.

The local NAPA near me sells rebuilt 320i calipers reasonably cheap and they also have a good machine shop in the back so, before I buy them, I'd like to know a little bit about what I'm talking about with the machining.

Anyone??

Thanks-

The surfaces of the caliper where it bolts onto the strut are machined off, so the centerline of the caliper lines up with the rotor. Otherwise the caliper sets too far inward. Do a forum search on BMW calipers and you should find lots of information, or I can post or email you pictures of how I did it. Some other folks have used Volvo calipers which don't need machining I believe.

The 320i calipers require milling of the mount to aling the caliper with the rotor. Can be done at local machine shop. Cost about $20.00 for a pair. If you email me I can send you a photo showing where the millilng is to be done. Still can't include a picture with the posts.
