Wierd Electrical Problem
Had my six at the shop to hook the wiring back up from the console gages.
Everything works now except when I turn on the headlights, the tach drops about 1,000 rpm. Anyone have any thoughts - or does this mean my redline at night is suddenly 1,000 rpms higher? Thanks Barry

Check the +12V and GND wires to the tach that they are the correct. Something must be miswired where the voltage drop from the headlights is affecting the tach voltage.

Thanks for the insight. It always helps to know where to start before you lay on your back and get up inside the dash. Barry

Also check fuse #9. Take it out and inspect it. Either clean up the ends with a wire brush, or just s**tcan it and put a new shiny one in. Clean up the "arms" that hold it, too.

Barry,
This is my shot in the dark guess; If the rpm only drops when the light switch is on and low beams are sellected, the WH/BL wire (for the high beam indicator light) is interchanged with the RD/WH wire (which supplies power to the tach.). Both of these wiring connections are on the bottom rear of the tach. Good luck, Phil |

Phil:
I'll check that connection. It is an easy one for me to reach without a lot of contortions. Thanks. Barry
