Brake Stuff

A couple of questions:

1. I have fitted BMW calipers and a 19mm 911 Brake master cylinder to my US spec 1974 1.8. Everything has gone together fine except I have apparently purchased the Euro spec master which does not have a housing for the pressure sensor. Is this a problem?

2. One of the rear calipers is leaking from the handbrake actuating mechanism despite the fitment of a new seal kit. I am not sure which seals were replaced as this was done by previous owner. Will I have to replace the caliper or are there any seals that might have been missed?

Any thoughts and suggestions gratefully received.

The switch is for the dash light and is for info only that pressure is low. I would guess that when you press on the pedal that you could tell the pressure is too low and don't a light to tell you? As for the leaky seal, it will probably only get worse as it sounds like they all weren't replaced? It could blow out and cause catastrophic brake failure, not a good thing. There are several posts so far this year about obtaining the seal kits and where such as GPR, etc. I wouldn't drive it until the leak was fixed. Good luck.

I think that the pressure switch actually looks for a significant difference in pressure between the front and rear circuts.

While a badly leaking rear caliper might not be too noticable for pedal pressure, the switch would activate for the lower rear pressure.
