Firewall shifter boot

Does anyone have a EASY way to get the firewall shifter boot over the flange that is on the firewall? Leaving it off completely IS NOT the answer!!!!

did it just a few months ago..the key is having lots of elbow room, jack-up as high as poss. slip top half on first and pull down bottom part using both hands, should slip on like putting a baloon on a faucet.
