ECU knob question

Can any of you help me identify what setting I have my knob set at? I've set the knob to where it sound good at idle and what I believe to be 7 clicks. I have read on previous posts that 11 clicks +/- 3 clicks is about where it should be. I have a 73 2.0L
Thanks!

OK, I've annotated your photo and attached it below.

The knob "clicks" when one of the detents on the knob goes over the "clicker" on the plastic surround. It looks like your knob is about 4 or 5 clicks from being fully counterclockwise, or fully lean. I don't see the mark on the plastic surround that most ECU's (I have 5 or 6 of them with the mark) that the factory used to indicate the "spec" mixture (from the factory bench setup), maybe it's missing. In that case, I'd assume the middle of the range is close to the factory setting.

Regardless, the comment that I made about being +/-3 clicks is not a hard-and-fast rule. You should be setting your idle mixture as Otto and I suggested, by using a CO meter, and not by guessing at how many clicks. Find a local shop that you can pay to put your car on their gas analyzer. Run the car until fully warm (at least 30 minutes or more) and hook up to the analyzer and set the idle mixture to spec. Pelican Parts tech guide has the exact levels for your specific engine.

That's how I set my mixture, except that I have my own Heathkit CO meter (NLA), so I can do it in my garage. Just so happens that when I'm at 2.5% I'm 3 clicks clockwise (richer) than the factory "notch" on the plastic surround. I've done other cars locally and the result was similar, but that doesn't indicate that all cars will be properly set by that position - use a CO gauge!

Hi Brad, I know Ive resurrected an old post but I am in Phoenix and I have looked all over for the Heathkit CO meter. Also online, can't seem to find where to buy.

Can you tell me where you bought yours? I just drove in from Illinois and my 930's mixture is all messed up. Cant seem to be able to set it like I used to back home. I really need a CO meter.
thanks

Here's a picture showing the indent in the plastic ring.
