I need to go get a socket to remove the castellated(?) nut off the rear axle. Does anybody know the size?

Never mind, 30mm is correct.

1 3/16” works too.
...and a big old breaker bar...and don’t forget the 10,000lb gorilla. And if you didn’t know...to keep the hub from turning either: 1) Install two lug nuts and bracing a bar/pipe between them and the ground. - or - 2) Drill one or two holes through a piece of angle iron and bolt on with the lugs.
