I am just loking for suggestions. if what i think is going on ill loose my transaxle soon. ive replaced the clutch already. sometimes when i reach for 2nd or 4th gear it does not go in gear. so i step on the clutch again and i push up more and there just a littl bit left and its in gear. i have to shove the shifter as far up as possible. sometimes when i have the clutch down all the way it grinds a bit as i put it into gear. mostly 2nd. i know the clutch is proporly adjusted. it just does that. any ideas?

yes, it's not your clutch that needs adjustment, it's the shift linkage. go to your hayne's manual, and follow the directions for adjusting the shift linkage, and that *should* solve your problem..

Before you adjust your shift linkage, check all the bushings for wear. Get new ones! They are really cheap and then adjust the shift linkage. It should not grind when you shift into 2nd gear. It also helps if you shift slowly from 1st into 2nd, allowing the gears to match speed. It does take alittle time to adjust the linkage to get it right, so play with it.

check your shift linkage, bushings, cable and the cable tube(it often breaks loose). All of these will cause much grinding and frustration. Eliminate all possible causes before tearing apart your transmission.
