I would check for rust, if its not too bad and if the engine/trans are in good shape it would be worth it.
Good luck Kelly |

side shifter trannys? Bumper rubber? Seats? Dash pad? Bumpers? rear calipers? Steering wheel? Console? Is eng. a 2.0?
Parts cars are in the 200-600cdn range here. Timing is everything. |

These cars are in Germany, was planning on taking them to Finland, dunno anything about their condition. Just was thinking if these were a good investment, because you really don't see much 914's here.

914???investment? I am upside down on a restoration without rust repair...Buy them cause you want a 914...to fetch premium parts dollars the condition of the parts have to be near perfect...or go with ebay and watch the frenzy...

I bought 4 for $1200 to build one. It was a learning experience-first time I got into and worked on 914s. If I had to do it over, I would look through a catalog to see what the expensive/hard to find parts are. I found that there are parts like the interior, fuel injection, chrome, bumper rubber and so on that are the first to decay over time or get stripped and so are hard to come by and expensive. Then there are the parts that every 914 seem to have like headlight motors, gauges, suspension and brakes, etc. Check the floor boards well-you want to start with a good body and that is sometimes hard to come by. Have fun!

I got my 73 2.0 for free!
Only problem is i'm into it for over 5k now, and still haven't put it back together. "Investment" and "914 project" in the same sentence, now thats almost an oxymoron. Good Luck ------------------ CWP/VIR 72 914 L20E in rusto. 73 914 L20E 2.0L in resto. a914lover73@hotmail.com |
