Unstamped 2.0 case?

I have what appears to be an unstamped 2.0 case pulled out of a 912E. Has anyone seen one of these before?

Yes. Some factory replacement cases didn't have a engine number stamped on them ...

I've seen that with 911 cases before but never a 914/912E case....

What's the best way to be sure it's a 914 or 912E case then? I wonder if it's a bus case.

Well, out the front actually.

Check the fan shroud for the engine number. I am told that the 912Es are stamped on the shroud, not on the case.

There is indeed a serial number on the shroud. How about that! So, then, given that this came out of a 912E and the serial number is on the shroud, I guess it's a 912E 2.0 case.

The serial number for a 912E case should start with 406....

ALL 912E cases have no case code on them.. I have seen hundreds and never one that had any code anywhere on the case, just the blower housing.

Okay, it looks like I have a 912E case and fan housing for 912E engine number 4061740. If anyone is interested, let me know. The case looks like it was hot tanked awhile ago and never used again. I bought a huge pile of stuff but don't need these parts.
