2.0L Injection, 73-74 vs. 75-76
O.K. so far I know the 74 brain, harness, injectors, and CHT sensor have differenet part numbers than the 75, and that the brain and harnesses shouldn't be mixed up.
However, what about the injectors and CHT. I remember hearing (from Jim Thorsen?) about not mixing and matching injectors (that is, all four injectors must be of one year or the other) but do I need to use the more expensive 75 injectors with a 75 brain, or can I use the 73-74 ones. On Ford EEC-IV I know that the wrong injectors (low impedence vs. high impedence) can blow the brain. Is the same true for the D-Jet? About the CHT sensor, the 73 had an inline resistor, but I didn't think the 74 had one. So why are the 73-74 PN's the same, while the 75-76 is different. Also what component does the CHT match with. I.E. do I need to match the CHT with the pressure sensor (74 and 74 or 75 and 75) or to the injectors, or do all three need to come from the same year? I know, I know, crazy questions, but I plan on buying new injectors soon and the 73-74 are about $20 cheaper each. |

When I checked some 73-74 injectors and 75-76 injectors, they *seemed* to have the same resistance (at least pretty close) through the windings. The guy who cleaned and checked the injectors told me that they all flowed the same amount as well. However, he was very careful to separate them out by part number.
If I remember correctly, "Filko" (makes electrical bits) sells just one part number for all the 2.0 914s, 73-76. Bosch however does have the separate numbers. In other words, I haven't the foggiest idea what exactly the difference is. Sorry if this isn't much help. --DD |
