Six Conversion : Relay Board Substitution..

I am looking for the part numbers for the 14 or 16 pin connectors necessary when you remove the 4 cylinder engine bay relay board when doing a six conversion. I will be iinstalling an internally regulated alternator. Someone told me it was a 928 part that you could buy from Zims who advertises in the Porsche Pano.

14 pin connector parts

I know of a 14 pin plastic connector plastic body.
The back side plastic cover is part # 911 612 113 05 and the front side 14 pin socket is 911 612 122 02.
If you use the PET software, you can find this part listed in Main Group 9, Sub Group 3, Illustration 903-15. This is actually the parts diagram for the steering column but if you look at the diagram, the connector is shown near the bottom. Both the 12 and 14 pin connectors are listed. I don't know anything about a 16 pin connector.

914-6 Relay Panel

I installed a 2.7 liter 6 in a 1975 914 a couple of years ago. As part of the conversion, I eliminated the relay board completely and now only have 2 relays sealed up inside of a small waterproof box that is located under the battery platform. Lots of rewiring but it works just fine. Like you I went with an alternator that used an internal regulator and so there wasn't much need for the original relay board.

I am looking to remove the old relay board too. I am Megasquirting a 3.2 in my '73 914.
After "toasting" a few wires I am ready to do away with most of the old harness. Any suggestions for the electrically challenged in Austin Tx
