Chalon 2
I am looking for the manufacture for the Chalon 2 kit which I am finding it hard to find. I have a wrecked 914 chalon and need parts, I would like to find a parts list for parts that were damaged, hopefully the manuifactures so I can by direct! Thanks for all who can help!

Auto Atlanta (www.***********.com) does sell them, for about $1950. However, that's all the information I got from them, in spite of the detailed questions I asked - they didn't even bother sending a picture. I would like an Alternate source - no web searches have turned up anything. Thanks! |

Is it the updated version of the Chalon as seen in Tweeks issues dating 94?

Don't know - like I said, information was not forthcoming. Rather than try to pull teeth, I started looking for used kits. Maybe when their catalog arrives it'll have some info - should be a few more weeks, tho. They've also raised the price on those kits $300 in the last few years. I'm sure there's a better source. |

I could have sworn that I have seen the Chanlon kit advertised in one of my catalog i.e., Automotion, Performance and Tweeks, no such luck. I do have an Automobile Atlanta catalog but didn't look. This is the way I see it, if only Automobile Atlanta has what I need, I don't really need it. I CAUTION you about doing business with them. If you would like additional details regarding such, please email me.

Automobile Atlanta sounds like they have become a nightmare to deal with! I dealt with them in 92 haven't been in touch with them since then. Have you seen any other kits that turn the heads on the 914. I really like the slope nose I used to have on mine.

A.I.R. are definetly the people that you need to get in touch with. They make kits from very mild to very wild. Unfortunately I couldn't find their telephone number and/or address as of the post. I will attempt to find such and forward this on.

They don't have any web sites with kits from AIR. Do they have a catalog?

I will try to remember to get the address and phone number from my brother today. He does have their catalog. I think you will like what you see when you get their catalog. I am tying a string on finger.

My Brother asked me to forward this info to you:
AIR 11237 Vinedale Sun Valley, CA 91352 Voice 818.504.2500 Fax 818.504.9348 Don Mcloughlin has been doing bodywork for Porsche (And others) race cars forever. I've spoken with him several times on the phone and he has always taken the time to answer all of my questions. There are many kits/pieces that you can get for the 914. I have personally seen one of his GT-2 914 kits. AWESOME! You might also talk to Roger Sheridan about his Ultimate 914 racer. Drop me a line if you need any more info. |

Sheesh! I just re-checked ***********'s web site. Their 9014 kit was listed at $1950 only a month ago, and now it's $2850! What's wrong with those people? |

Boyo...if you only knew. I am trying to be better and not trash our dear friends at AA. If at all possible, I would avoid them at all costs. If you want details, email me. I am speaking from experience.

I didn't find the makers of the chalon kit but I did find the person who created it. Which is Dan from A.I.R. Thanks for all your help guys when I get it completed I will post it so you can see it!

Check out my website and my 'new' 914-6 that I bought off of Wayne. It's got a slant nose kit on it, which I'd like to learn more about. If you guys see it in any of your catalogs, let me know. I'm currently redoing the body, and have been very impressed with the quality of the kit so far.

my friend wants to know! Hey, is this whole kit fiberglass. It looks good
I like the front nose. How aerodynamic is the body, and what size tires can you run with it. It might be worth looking into. How much bondo is in the kit. WEIGHT IS EVERYTHING! |

The doors, hood and rear deck lid are steel. Everything else is glass. There isn't much bondo at all on the car. Most of each fender was cut away for the flares. One thing I noticed about the kit; the front end is braced very well. It is not very flimsy and can be sat on without fear of braking it.
It has 15/9" wheels on the rear, but I'll need to push them out about 2" to fill the flares up. The front flares are actually WIDER by about 1/2". Keep checking out the website. I'll update the progress on the car as we reconstruct it. |
