Odometer fixed

The next thing on the list today was to fix Odometer. Yanked out piece of cake. Very carefully removed the bezel. (not for the faint of heart). But if nothing else is stock and ya ain't going to show it here is what I did.
Removed screws on back pulled out guts. Spent 15 minutes figuring out how this thing worked and what wasn't doing it's part of the puzzle. So the shaft that all the numbers rotate on must be worn out. it is also internally geared to the trip Odometer through the first digit. anyway what I did and seems to work right now is to slightly pull out the shaft with the brass gear going through all the numbers. put a VERY tiny drop of "Blue Lock tight" into the hole of the first number wheel. Caution don't get it into the others or they will all turn with the shaft. (quickest way to roll over Odometer)!!!!! It all seems to work right and will road test all tis week and report back next friday.
P.S. found the reset cable plugged it in Guess I need a knob turny thing. Is it supposed to come out the bottom of the knee pad. best I can tell form the owners manual.

Well, you could have looked in the Tech Articles section of this website, or on Tim's 914 Fan Page. The odometer repair articles have been around for ever...

The reset knob does come out the bottom of the knee pad.

Thanks Dave, I was getting a little to big for my britches anyway. I must have looked at those tech articles 20 times and never caught my attention. "gauge refurb" . Looks like I chose the hard road though by glueing the shaft to the wheel. But then I didn't have all my wheels all over , because the tape would have been to easy again.
P.S. everybody is looking at my bent wheel post no replies. HMMM.
